In April 2005, Hart High School District presented select local businesses and individuals awards for their support of the schools and students. Mountasia Fun Center and the City of Santa Clarita, in conjunction with the the Wm. S. Hart Union High School District, the Southern California Auto Club, the SCV Sheriff's Department, the California Highway Patrol, and SCV Safe Rides brought a pilot program, STAY ALIVE ON THE DRIVE, to students of driving age enrolled in Hart District high schools. Students pledged to STAY ALIVE ON THE DRIVE by signing a pledge provided through the ASB. Upon signing the pledge, the student was given a wristband to wear for the week. The wristband, a tool to generate awareness of the need for drivers to be responsible, was also incentive based. Students wearing the wristband were eligible for special free offers and discounts at Mountasia Fun Center, Santa Clarita Lanes, Ice Station Valencia, Fatburger, Maggie Moos Ice Cream & Treatery and Southern California Auto Club. Mountasia Wins Top Honors
11/4/2004 Brian Franks Signal Business Editor
Mountasia Fun Center in Santa Clarita recently received top honors from a leisure and entertainment association for the design of its Web site. The International Association for the Leisure and Entertainment Industry named Mountasia’s site its annual winner of its “Best Web site” contest. The honor was awarded to Mountasia at the association’s convention in Las Vegas. Mountasia is owned by Entertainment Centers Inc., which also owns Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour and Restaurant in Santa Clarita and Skateland in Northridge. Courtney Bourdas-Henn, who is the director of marketing for Entertainment Centers, said she was excited to receive the honor. “I decided that we needed a major overhaul on our Web site so after several interviews I selected Christiansen Consultants to rebuild the Web site,” said Henn, who accepted IALEI’s Golden Token Award in Las Vegas. “I’m glad all those hours of content and design meetings paid off.” Christiansen Consultants is a Mission Viejo-based Internet development firm. Christiansen Consultants President Glen Christiansen said he was also pleased to win the award. “We recently won some other awards for our Web site developments, but to win an award from an international trade association is very special,” Christiansen said in statement. “We spend a lot of time to ensure that our work is the best it can be, so this makes all those late hours worthwhile.” IALEI Executive Director Carole Sjolander said the association’s Web site competition this year was very tight. “There were several good entries (this year), which shows our industry (continually attempts to improve its) marketing through the use of the Internet,” Sjolander said in a statement. IALEI is a nationwide trade associations of family entertainment center, arcades and theme park.
